				<title>New date announced for sports awards ceremony</title>
				<description>A new date has been confirmed for the second annual Hull and East Yorkshire (HEY) Sporting Heroes and Champions Awards after the adverse winter weather meant that the original date for the ceremony was postponed.

The ceremony, originally organised for December 2, has been re-arranged and will now be held on Thursday, February 3. It is set to be a night to remember, with hundreds of the region's professional and amateur sporting heroes and fans expected to converge on KC Stadium to recognise their achievements.

Event organisers from independent train operating company First Hull Trains and local radio station 99.8 KCFM say they are delighted that the awards ceremony is back in the diary and sporting enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the event.

The awards have received a fantastic response and representatives from award sponsors Hull City Council, NHS Hull, Paragon Data Services, The One Point, Kingston Communications, St Stephen's Shopping Centre, Princess Quay Shopping Centre, Eltherington, North Point Shopping Centre and Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY), will all be on hand to present the awards to winners.

David Townend, sales and marketing manager for First Hull Trains, said: &quot;We were naturally very disappointed to have to postpone the original date for the awards ceremony, but safety obviously had to come first and the weather conditions were treacherous on the day.

&quot;I know all of those who were planning to attend are now very much looking forward to the ceremony when it takes place in February anyway and it will follow exactly the same format as we originally intended.

&quot;We have been delighted with the response to the 2010 awards and we wish all the nominees the best of luck.&quot;

All proceeds from the evening will once again be donated to local athletes through the Sports Awards Grants scheme.

				<title>Humber Sports Partnership launches Humber Senior Basketball Development League</title>
				<description>A new basketball league has been formed in the Humber Region. It was formed to offer opportunities to people of any nationality, to get involved in basketball and to help with development of players and clubs. This has just been launched with 7 teams across the Humber area, with a further two teams in the pipeline.

The Humber Senior Basketball Development League is running on Wednesday evenings and Sunday Afternoons, with fixtures played at two venues on the north and south bank. The games are played at Bishop Burton College and Baysgarth Leisure centre, near Barton-upon-Humber. The players of the teams are to be over 16 years of age, both male and female players can participate. If anyone would like to play regular basketball, you will be directed to a club, or can even create your own team, which would be introduced in 2011.
Adrian Kennedy, the Chair of the league, said, 'The development league and structure has been created to fulfil a need highlighted in the region. Currently it is going from strength to strength. All Enquiries, no matter how small, are welcome.'

				<title>UNIVERSITY OF HULL V HULL KINGSTON ROVERS
CHARITY NETBALL MATCH

</title>
				<description>On 13th November 2010 the netball players at the University of Hull challenged Hull KR to a game of netball to raise money for CHILDREN IN NEED.

Steph Minns from Hull KR Sport &amp;amp; Education Trust was on hand to give the lads a bit of coaching and explained the basic rules before the match began. Both teams warmed up, did some skills, drills and shooting practice and the Rovers players donned their tutus, got into their bibs and the match began.

The University of Hull netball squad, undefeated in the BUCS league, stormed ahead in the first quarter. They continued to play well throughout the game with some excellent shooting, controlled centre court play and great interceptions and turnovers by the University defence.

The match was played in good spirits and, although the Rovers players improved as the game went on, restrictions on playing areas, not being allowed to run with the ball and no contact was very different to what the Rovers players normally do on the rugby pitch!

University of Hull won the game and the final score was 45 to 25. With proceeds from the entry and raffle during the day - &amp;pound;448.00 was raised for CHILDREN IN NEED.

Pauline Hardy, Humberside Netball Development Officer and Maggie Quantock-Houghton, Reckitt Benckiser Netball Club were the umpires.

The event, sponsored by KC, will take place at the home of Driffield Rugby Union Club between 1pm-4pm on November 28th.

The event is hugely popular with people attending from far and wide and both organisations will be out in force, including the Black and Whites P&amp;pound;O Ferries Try Line Tussle, whilst KC will go one step further by setting up their very own ice rink for everyone to enjoy.

The Driffield Christmas Farmers Market takes place on Saturday 4th December from 9am on the Driffield Show Ground.

It's one of a number of events that both organisations are providing across East Yorkshire and Shirin Zandi, Marketing Manager at KC, commented,

&quot;We are delighted to be working closely with Hull FC on a number of projects and we hope the relationship will continue to help us to reach as many people as possible across the region.

&quot;We are proud to be part of local life and we are committed to East Yorkshire and this latest event in Driffield highlights that.&quot;

She added, &quot;We are really keen on encouraging health and fitness and getting families involved in community events and these aspirations fit perfectly with the aim of the Hull FC Foundation, which is to engage, educate and inspire and promote an active and healthy lifestyle.&quot;</description>

				<title>Looking for Inspirational Coaches</title>
				<description>The Humber Sports Partnership has launched a new Coach Mentoring initiative linked into the 2012 Olympics Inspire Mark.

The project aims to develop sports coaches within Olympic related activity through partnering them with experienced coaches in that sport.

The participants will be mentored by a range of experienced coaches who will pass on their skills and experience to help the volunteers and in turn inspire young people into sporting activity and promote Olympic ideals within the Humber.

The Inspire programme is a mix of projects from across the UK which are inspirational ideas coming from the community that are inspired by 2012.

This Project has just been launched with the support of local NGB and the aim of the project is to sign up people of all ages and develop their coaching skills. A diverse range of opportunities are being developed at accredited clubs within the local area and within community activities across the city.

Richard Munson from the Humber Sports Partnership is backing the initiative &quot;Mentoring is an important process that enables new coaches to learn from the more experienced coaches. This programme delivered with our National Governing Body partners gives an excellent opportunity for coaches to take the next step of their development&quot;

Elliot Hakner, England Basketball Development Officer said &quot;This programme is going to make a real difference to developing quality basketball coaches for the future. This also gives the mentors an opportunity to develop a new aspect to their own development&quot;

If you are a newly qualified coach and would like to take part in the mentoring programme and get support from experienced coaches, please contact Richard Munson at the Humber Sports Partnership on 01482 387491 rmunson@goodwin-centre.org
